When replacing your MAXPRO cables, please take note of the different steps. Do not rush this and give yourself plenty of time to familiarize yourself with your MAXPRO. Please wear safety glasses when changing out your cables.
**IMPORTANT** BEFORE YOU TAKE THE OLD CABLE KIT OFF you must let the (old) cable fully unwind the cord so that it is not tight around the kit when you pull it off.
This is extremely **important** to prevent the springs that are under tension from popping out of the black casing. Once you watch the video once (before you do the cable replacement) this should make sense.
MAXPRO Cable Replacement
Quick-Start Guide
BEFORE YOU START
☐ Confirm MAXPRO model
☐ Confirm correct cable kit
Tools Needed:

Phillips screwdriver #1
-
Phillips screwdriver #2
-
Paper towels (lubrication inside)
-
Scissors
-
Small mat or towel
ORIENTATION (IMPORTANT)
☐ Lay MAXPRO flat
☐ Cables facing AWAY from you
☐ Label & numbers upright
☐ Start on RIGHT side (SmartConnect only)
DISASSEMBLY
☐ Remove bottom pad
☐ Peel off screw label
☐ Remove battery plate (SmartConnect only)
☐ Disconnect battery cable
☐ Remove main cover plate (4 screws)
Tip: Store screws in the bottom pad so they don’t roll away.
⚠️ CABLE REMOVAL (SAFETY STEP)
Cable is under spring tension
☐ Slide out rotating cover
☐ Keep BOTH washers together

Large washer: one side
-
Small washer: opposite side
☐ Hold cable firmly
☐ Slowly unwind a few turns
☐ Do NOT let spring snap free
☐ Remove old cable
INSTALL NEW CABLE
☐ Confirm RIGHT or LEFT cable
☐ Cable fully wound
☐ Slide center onto pin
☐ Wiggle until fully seated
☐ Pull slightly → wrap 1 full turn → let retract
☐ Confirm smooth return & proper tension
RECONNECT + REASSEMBLE
Reconnect
☐ Align connector and pin together
☐ Insert connector first
☐ Slight upward pull if needed
☐ Snap securely in place
Reassemble
☐ Route cables neatly
☐ Install inside screws first
☐ Install outer screws next
☐ Replace cover plate
☐ Reinstall battery (SmartConnect only)
☐ Reattach bottom pad
REPEAT
☐ Repeat entire process on LEFT side
FINAL CHECK
☐ Cables retract smoothly
☐ No rubbing or snagging
☐ Bottom pad fully seated
☐ Ready to train
